Biography

Poulina Q. Uddin, MD, specializes in risk stratification and management of coronary disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular disease and management of pacemakers.

Dr. Uddin emphasizes prevention with her patients, and promotes risk reduction through healthy lifestyle change. She, along with her colleagues, developed the Scripps Women’s Heart Center, where she currently serves as a member of the care team, both clinical and administrative.

Her research interests include treatments for the reduction of inflammation in cardiac patients after myocardial infarction or diagnosis of coronary artery disease, and genetic risk factors associated with the development of cardiac disease. She has a strong interest in incorporating integrative and alternative therapies for the management of chronic conditions, with emphasis on nutrition, exercise and stress management.

Dr. Uddin’s goal is to educate and empower her patients so they can understand their health issues and be actively involved in creating their care plan. She wants each patient to fully understand their health conditions and treatment options so they can work together to reduce their future risk and reach their full health potential.
